crush the wicked (or: The Book of Job)
The Book of Job contains one of the best known and most remarkable stories of the Bible. (And if you read the thing once, you know: That is saying something.)
Fast the entire rest of Old Testament is about "historic events" of the people of Israel. Often it is about God's favorites, who are rewarded for their piety. Not so Job. This makes
is nothing wrong - but for a lot of God and Satan to make Job's life a living hell. The plausible reason, God considers it necessary to prove themselves before his arch-enemy Satan.
ONE OF UZ
"l There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job. That man was perfect and upright, fearing God and eschewed evil."
(Job 1:1)
And that he was perfect and upright, God rewarded him with wealth, a large family and many, many slaves.
"2 And the father of seven sons and three daughters;
3 His substance also was seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yoke of oxen and five hundred asses, and he had many servants, and he was the greatest of all the men of tomorrow. "
(Job 1:2-3)
While Job therefore enjoys his God-given luck, he has no idea that make him the devil and the Lord as soon upset by the bill. The whole mess begins when the devil turns up in heaven, where he clearly has no problem and mixed freely with the children of God.
"6 it came to pass on a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them."
(Job 1:6)
THE NEGLECTED CHILDREN OF GOD
Laughter down under the Children of God. About one experiences little in the Bible, contrary to God's famous son, the carpenter. But this is also the same God he himself likes to talk about themselves
In Genesis, after all, we learn that some of the sons had children of God with human women, who were for some reason famous giant.
"4 The Giants were on the earth in those days, and that then, that the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men and bare children to them. They are the heroes of old were famous Are. "
(Genesis 6:4)
Smells of a spin-off. God 2.0 - The Next Generation or something. Especially because we get but a few references like this in the book of Job nearly no information about the children of God in the Bible. Even their children, who were famous giant, for the Bible writers do not worth mentioning.
In our story of Job, God's children play a significant role. It comes to the exciting encounter between God, the Creator of all things, and Satan - I forgot why exactly did God really create the.
the omniscient and omnipresent Satan asks first, where he has been hiding.
"7 the Lord said to Satan, "Where are you from? Satan answered the Lord and said, I have crisscrossed the country about "
(Job 1:7)
God now considers it necessary to warumauchimmer to provide protection from Satan
." 8 . The Lord said to Satan, "Have you considered my servant Job? For there is none like him in the country, and upright, fearing God and shunning evil "
(Job 1:8)
Satan replied. That Job, God only like it because of him always gives such great things .
"9 Satan answered the LORD, and said: Do you think Job fear God for nothing
10 Did you not him, his house and everything he has around kept. You have blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. "
(Job 1:9-10)
Satan beats God now before a bet. If the Job would take away everything he has, then Job would see God no longer so fragrant.
"11 But extends from your hand and touch all that he has: what's, and he will curse thee to thy face "
(Job 1:11)
This may be God does not put up Would be. laughed when he would not prove to Satan that he is always right. This oppurtunities to see Satan's stupid face when he lost his bet! Since it is only bad and right to torment his most loyal subordinates, brutal and a lot to murder people
"12 The Lord said to Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy hand, and only him. himself put not your hand. Then Satan went from the LORD. "
(Job 1:12)
DREAM TEAM
early in the very first chapter of the book of Job Satan and God now jointly commit more mass murder. God's ways are . unfathomably
"13 a day when there ate his sons and daughters, and drinking wine in their brother's house, the oldest son,
14 a messenger came to Job and said: The oxen were plowing and the donkeys were grazing beside them,
15 since the fall of Saba in and took her and beat the servants with the edge of the sword , and I am escaped alone to tell thee announces's "
(Job 1:13-15. )
Job has no idea that God and Satan have made the common goal of making Job's life hell. The fact that the slaves were killed by those from Sheba Can happen, in these tough times.
But the carnage has just begun. God / Satan can only survive a slave, which can then reimburse Job report.
"16 He was still speaking, another came and said, The fire of God fell from heaven and burned sheep and servants, and consumed them , and I am escaped alone to tell thee.
17 he was yet speaking, another came, and said, The Chaldeans made out three bands, and fell upon the camels and took them and killed the servants with the edge of the sword; and I am escaped alone to I tell you.
18 he was yet speaking, another came, and said, "Your sons and daughters ate and drank in the house of her brother, the firstborn,
19 And behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and smote the four corners of the house and 's raised the young people that they died ;.. and I am escaped alone to tell thee announces's "
(Job 1:6-19)
exactly who commits the murders, unfortunately, is quite nebulous in verse 12 God gives Satan a power to inflict Job everything he likes, as long as he did not personally involved in the fur goes.
die In verse 16, but "sheep and the servants" by the "fire of God."
The poor servants must die by the way three times (verses 15, 16 and 17). And Job's children God has irrevocably killed. But even for a good cause.
Although God for the murders only partially personally hands dirty - morally, he is held solely responsible. For Satan bends to no one a hair, until he has received for the power of God.
Not that that's been particularly difficult ... had
As prophesied God, Job is in spite of all this is still not on the faith Now God could send away Satan and the thing let the matter rest -. or back in time Turn and do it all happened. Hey, he is finally God and can do.
Instead, he discussed further with Satan.
" 3 the Lord said unto Satan, Hast thou not considered my servant Job, that is without equal in the land, not bad and upright, fearing God and shunning evil and keeps still maintained his piety. but you have persuaded me that I have corrupted him without cause "
(Job 2:3)
God gives to so that he Job" without cause ", ie tortured without reason. This could
it be a lesson not to be persuaded by Satan to torture chatter of his most trusted subordinates.
Maybe he would have even one day before check in time, can not better that one can be manipulated by the devil. But some never learn ...'s
Satan are in fact the bet with God or not. He asks God, Job, go to the skin may be. Then he says determined from God. What does God say? "Fass my favorite servant not to, Satan, and what I am talking here in heaven with my nemesis actually?" Nope.
" 6 The Lord said to Satan: Behold, he is in your hand, but spare his life
7 Since Satan went out from the face of the LORD and smote Job with boils from the sole of evil on up to his head. "
(Job 2:6-7)
And even with the evil festering Job, God does not swear. Satan has lost his bet. However, he is no worse off than before. It was no bet, it was just about right.
After all, had the opportunity to kill Satan, with God's permission to destroy the favorite servant of his arch enemy, the Lord to torture cruel.
After the second chapter, of 42, immersed in the whole book of Job, Satan is no single time for more.
Where the devil is the mere?
SO WAS THE TIME TO SAY
The rest of the book - except the very last chapter - have with this story, in vorbiblischen times was probably a common legend, not much to do. The
consists of the so-called Job's seal, by a later author to invent and written differently than the popular legend of Job in verse. The main plot with Satan in heaven, however, never mentioned. There is lament of Job and three friends long, long, why Job Bad has happened to you (with unimportant details, such as God of the children killed in poetry are never mentioned).
The friends insist that Job must have done something that is not pleasing to God. Because God is just: good happens good, evil, but evil. Job maintains his view, not bad to have committed a crime.
Only in Chapter 38 reports finally God himself (from a cloud) to speak.
He gives no useful answers but is only a little, how great he is and all others not.
"1 And the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind and said:
2 Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge?
3 Gird your loins like a man, I want to ask you, teach me!
4 Where were you when I founded the earth? announcement to, you're so clever!
5 you know who has her set, the dimensions or who has pulled on them a guide ?
(Job 38:1-5)
An interesting detail about the creation of the earth is just given us. God has used a guide to make the earth.
And just about the disc is straight and we are not all down at the edge and have us hold not always somewhere.
If you had known this? So I do not, but I'm not the great God who created everything.
"6 Worau f her feet are sunk, or who laid its cornerstone,"
(Job 38:6)
God still babbles forever to continue such a nonsense.
"32 Can you bring the morning star in his day or the bears up the sky with his young lead?"
(Job 38:32)
Because even the stars rotate around the earth. If you'd be God, you knew this
"35 Can you see the lightning miss, that they may go and speak to thee: Here we are"
(Job 38:35) God
gasps again and laments of a non- speaking of lightning, unicorns and ostriches.
God knows what he is telling us. I do not know, anyway.
"9 Do you think the unicorn will serve you and I will stay at your crib?"
(Job 39:9)
"3 lifts the wings of the ostrich is happy. Storch he is like the pious of wings and feathers. [...]
14 But he leaves her eggs on the ground and lets her hot hatch the earth.
15 He forgets that they want to be trampled and a wild animal they will break.
16 It is so hard on his boys as if they were not to be,'s cares not that he is working for free.
17 For God has deprived him of the wisdom and has assigned him no mind. "
(Job 39:3,14-17)
taken wisdom? That is, the ostrich was once as God and found that the not so good?
any event God is now completely out and cries for jihad.
"12 Yes, the proud look where they are and bend them, and crush the wicked where they are
13 ! bury them together in the earth and immerse their glory in secret "
(Job 40:12-13)
HAPPY END - BIBLE STYLE
In the last chapter of Job is finally the poor no fault of evil, free. God gives him more cattle and donkeys he ever had.
"12 And the Lord blessed afterwards of Job more than before, that he got fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels and a thousand yoke of oxen and a thousand donkeys. "
(Job 42:12)
But how could continue to live happily Job in the knowledge that his children are dead?
God could actually bring back to life. In the New Testament gives rekindle God as Paul, the ability to tote. Had the Job did not deserve it after all the numbers?
No. The children and servants remain dead
But do not worry: He'll get new ones that look like this even better than the old ones.
13 And that, he had seven sons and three daughters;
14 and was called the first Jemimah, Keziah, and the other the third Keren-Happuch.
15 And such beautiful women were not found in all countries as the daughters of Job . "
(Job 42:13-15)
ends well ...
IT'S A STRANGE WORLD, IS NOT IT
How can we understand this strange story? As historical events?
Or rather as a moral lesson? Job
is apparently a kind of model. Why?
He swears never from the Lord - a God who has murdered his children. Just to prove Satan, the most evil creature in the universe something. He had a choice, either he forbids Satan to inflict his favorite servant, and something tells him to go to hell. Or not.
decided Dear God, the lives of some people are less important than to prove Satan that the Lord is always right. Always.
Even if he tells us that he received by the foundation of the world Lot has used an ancient forerunner of a spirit level.
this worship God we do? And if Satan just again in heaven and he has doubts about your fear of God, then you have the guy on the cheek. And your God will help you not help but rather Satan. But only for 'a while and if your children are dead, you can even make new again. That's morality on Bible-Art.
And if you complain about your undeserved misfortune, God has you just a long, long, furious lecture how great he was after all. The Lord
dominated like his subordinates. There's only one who has fun in the Book of Job. This is Satan.
of my knowledge, no admirer of the old man is - and is still much better treated by him as a faithful believer. Is that the moral message? ..
It is hard to believe that anyone believes all nonsense really. But it be so. Anyway, to care of yourself and zermalt the wicked where they are!
